It’s Never Too Late To Make a Difference

In a world of take, take, take I want to remind you to give back. Be the light in the darkness. Whether that’s for yourself, a friend or a family member, or even a stranger. There are tons of ways to make a difference in someone’s life. It doesn’t have to be on some grand scale either. I’m not saying you need to donate a ton of money or spend hours volunteering. Making small changes in your daily life can have a huge impact, but require little effort on your part.

Look for small ways to help others. It can be as simple as helping out a family member with their kids or cooking a meal for an elderly relative. Maybe you have a close friend who could use someone to talk to in their time of need. If you think about it, you can find all sorts of ways to make someone’s life a littler brighter. Pay for someone else’s order behind you next time you’re at the drive-thru. It will brighten their day and warm your heart. And if a chain starts, think of  all the lives you will have touched that day with a simple act of kindness!!

Another, easy idea is clean out your drawers and closets and donate those gently used items to your local Goodwill, shelter, or church. Not only is the purge useful for you, you’ll be helping those in need. We live in a time of excess and honestly, we don’t need all that clutter in our life, trust me. Better yet, don’t take my word for it. If you haven’t already, read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and see for yourself. This book changed my life! It’s a best-seller for a reason!

5 Easy Ways to Make a Difference

5 EASY Ways to Make a Difference by Giving Back

1 Volunteer at your local senior center. You can play board games or cards with them, read to them, or just sit and talk with them or watch t.v..
2 Volunteer at your local animal shelter. They are always looking for people to play with the kitten and puppies to help socialize them, but they also need help walking dogs and cleaning kennels. Donations of food, beds, etc. are also welcome. .
3 Donate your old books to your local library. I love reading and this is one of my favorite ways to give back to my community, especially since I don’t usually read some books more than once.
4 Start a toy drive for kids at your local shelters, or donate your gently used stuffed animals to shelters for kids. Stuffed animals can be a sense of comfort for kids in shelters because they don’t have any of the comforts of home.
5 Send care packages to our soldiers overseas, believe me they will appreciate it!. You can go to OperationGratitude,or Google ‘care packages to us military’ for more information,

  1. Dedicating time to those around you — family, friends, and even strangers — is so important. You won’t always have the shirt on your back, but if you can give it away, do so.

I’ve given away lightly-worn clothes twice this year and it felt nice to not only have space in my home, but also to know that there are people out there who can benefit from the things I no longer need.
